We got Ollie, our now 6 month cockerpoo a few months back. Unbeknown to us, and despite having had a dog previously, our daughter (7) was petrified of him, and would not go near the dog. We were at an overpass with the only possible solution to rehome our new puppy.
In stepped Dec, who I can only describe as a dog whisperer. We asked if he could help, partly train Ollie, but also with Frankie’s fear of him. No small feat and I’ll be honest I wasn’t overly optimistic.
Declan’s approach has been nothing but compassionate, understanding and effective. Not only we’re we asking him to help train our puppy, we were asking for him to be part child psychologist, and he didn’t back down from this challenge, rather embraced it.
Over the period Declan has been working with us, Frankie has grown and grown in confidence with Ollie, but also with other dogs. The change in her confidence and ability to handle Ollie has been amazing, culminating in her entering her first dog show and winning a prize. This required her to be on her own, in a show-ring, with Ollie and lots of other dogs, and take control of him, which she did brilliantly.
We have gone from a scared 7 year old girl, who wouldn’t be in the same room, needing doors shut and screaming with fear if Ollie came near her, to a little girl and a puppy who follow each other everywhere and cuddle up in the sofa together.
I’m confident to say that none of this would have been possible without Declan’s support and guidance. He knows his stuff and it works. His honest and friendly approach delivers results and makes a difference. His input has solved a major problem and had a massive impact on our family life.
I cannot recommend him enough.
